Freshman Student
A freshman Student is a student entering the Institution after completing high School requirements. Students with dual enrollment credits are classified as freshman.
Transfer Student
A transfer student is a student who has studied at another post-secondary college or university and earned greater than12 transferrable credit hours with a grade point average of 2.00.
Transfer Admission Requirements:
- Previously attended institutions of higher learning
- Minimum 2.0 Cumulative GPA on a 4.0 Scale
- Minimum 12 transferrable semester hours or 18 transferrable quarter hours
- Good academic standing from last institution.

Transcript Evaluation
Transfer credit is assessed for admissions purpose only. Once officially enrolled, the Office of Registrar is responsible for articulating transfer credit. Please keep in mind, not all transferrable hours are applicable.
Transfer Credit Eligibility
- Student who transfer from another four year institution or two year college must submit in advance for acceptance transcripts of all previous work done on the college level. Academic work completed at other schools not listed on the Admission Application will not be accepted for transfer purposes.
- Students transferring from colleges and universities must have maintained a C average and be in good standing with the institution from which they are transferring.
Re-Admit Student
A readmit student is one who was not enrolled for two or more regular terms. These students must re-apply and pay the application fee of $60.00
Transient/Special
Student who is currently enrolled in another university and wishes to enroll to take classes toward their degree to be transferred back to their institution.

In order to ensure that required long distance coordination may be completed in time to accommodate admissions for the desired term, admission applications must be received by the following deadlines:
Fall Application: September 1
Summer Application: March 1
Spring Application: October 1
Veteran Student
- Apply for VA Educational Benefits with the Department of Veteran Affairs at least 60 days prior to enrollment at OPI
- Consult with an Academic Advisor for registration assistance and course selection
- Provide OPI with Certificate of Eligibility issued from the Department of Veteran Affairs current class schedule, course curriculum, and unofficial copy of transcript(s)
- Report to OPI admission at the beginning of each semester for certification.
